A native of Alabama, I grew up outside of Birmingham in Jasper, AL (think too many people in one small place). Getting out of that small town, I moved to an eclectic small town and received my BSED in Secondary Education Social Science from the University of North Alabama. Life then took me to slightly larger Tupelo, Mississippi where I eventually pursued and completed my Masters in American History at Mississippi State University. In 2008, I moved to North Carolina and by this time had decided that a smaller town wasn’t so bad. I currently live in Concord, NC.
Six years ago I agreed to embrace the chaos and married Steve. He came with three kids, and I have two. The oldest is adulting hard as a teacher. The second oldest is living her best life, current building ice castles in Utah. (Seriously, it’s a thing! Check it out on YouTube.) The two middle girls are navigating the college space. The youngest, and lone boy, is in the chaos of high school, learning to drive, and homework.
With five dogs I think it is safe to say that canine rescue is a passion. We have three dachshunds, a Siberian Husky, and a lab mix. Not to be forgotten is our gran-beagle who spends a lot of time with us and makes the 6th canine to be bossed by our cat.
When time allows you will find me camping in the woods or paddling the water. There is nothing quite as relaxing as a day on the water in a kayak, hiking through the woods, geocaching, or camping under the stars.
