Cyber Security: Types of Threats

Posted on By No Comments on Cyber Security: Types of Threats

Project Overview This project entailed the creation of a segment within a cyber security training video, specifically designed to outline various types of threats, culminating in a detailed discussion on the ‘unwitting insider’ threat. Leveraging familiar movie themes to depict each threat type, the video aimed to educate employees on the nuances of cyber security in an engaging and relatable manner.

Collaboration and Production A collaborative effort with an Information Technology Subject Matter Expert (IT SME) was instrumental in scripting and identifying real-world examples that resonate with the thematic elements of well-known films. The selection process for video clips was meticulous, ensuring each example was both easily recognizable and pertinent to the cyber security context. Utilizing Wondershare Filmora, these elements were woven together into a cohesive and impactful training module.

Goals and Impact The primary objective was to transcend traditional training methods by incorporating universally recognizable examples, thereby fostering a deeper understanding of cyber security threats among employees. This innovative approach not only sought to captivate the audience’s attention but also aimed to empower them with the knowledge to avoid becoming inadvertent contributors to organizational cyber vulnerabilities. Through this project, we demonstrated the power of creative storytelling in instructional design, making complex topics accessible and engaging for a diverse audience.

Skills and Competencies

  • Creative Scriptwriting and Storyboarding: Collaborated with IT SMEs to craft a script that balances technical accuracy with engaging storytelling.
  • Multimedia Editing and Production: Utilized advanced video editing tools to produce a high-quality educational resource.
  • Instructional Design: Applied principles of instructional design to ensure the content was educational, engaging, and effective in meeting learning objectives.
  • Project Management: Coordinated between various stakeholders, managing timelines and ensuring the project met its strategic goals.

This project exemplifies the innovative integration of popular culture and instructional design principles to enhance the efficacy of cyber security education within organizations.
