Job Aid: EV Safety

Posted on By No Comments on Job Aid: EV Safety

The document “EV Safety Job Aid” outlines a procedure for generating and accessing safety training reports related to Electric Vehicles (EVs) through Access OnDemand EV Training. The process includes steps for logging into the system using company credentials, exporting reports as CSV files, and organizing the data in Excel for delivery. This job aid provides clear instructions on how to navigate the training admin page, select options from the menu, and manage notifications and emails related to the report generation process. It serves as a practical guide for efficiently handling safety training data, ensuring users can access and organize information vital for promoting safety in EV handling and maintenance.

Initial Learning and Data Collection

The development process began with a comprehensive understanding of the Access OnDemand EV Training system’s safety report generation procedure. This crucial first step involved immersing myself in the platform to grasp its intricacies fully. By navigating the system firsthand, I gained valuable insights into the specific actions required to efficiently manage and export safety training data relevant to Electric Vehicles (EVs).

Capturing and Organizing Content

With a solid understanding of the process, I employed the snipping tool to capture essential screenshots that visually represent each step of the report generation and data management process. These images served as the backbone of the job aid, ensuring that complex steps were clearly illustrated for easy comprehension.

Logical Structuring

The captured content was then meticulously organized into a logical, step-by-step format. This structure was carefully designed to facilitate ease of understanding and navigation for users, regardless of their prior experience with the system. The aim was to create a self-explanatory guide that would allow anyone stepping in to run the report in my absence to do so with minimal guidance.

Rationale for Creation

The necessity for this job aid emerged from the requirement to run the report weekly. Recognizing the importance of continuity and the potential need for delegation, I designed this resource to be a comprehensive, easy-to-follow guide. It ensures that the task could be seamlessly transferred to another individual, maintaining consistency and efficiency in the report generation process even in my absence.

This project highlights the application of instructional design principles, such as needs analysis, content curation, and user-centered design, to create a practical, efficient job aid for a critical operational task.
