Virtual Meeting Tips

Posted on By No Comments on Virtual Meeting Tips

March 2020 sent everyone home overnight, and virtual meetings went from occasional to constant almost as fast. The pitfalls piled up just as quickly: dead air, talking over each other, cameras nobody remembered to turn on. The organization needed a reminder of best practices that people would actually watch, not skim past.

So the plan was simple: make it useful and make it funny. Humor gets remembered longer than a bullet list ever will, and pairing practical tips with something entertaining meant the advice had a better shot at sticking once the video ended.

Research came first: what was actually going wrong in virtual meetings, and which of those problems were common enough to be worth addressing on video. From there, the real work was curation. Dozens of possible tips and clips got narrowed down to the ones that would land across a genuinely mixed audience of departments and roles, without feeling like it was written for any one group in particular.

The final video was built in Wondershare Filmora, blending researched tips with media clips into something that felt more like a short comedy sketch than a training module. That was the point. Employees respond to a video that entertains them a lot more readily than one that lectures them.

It worked. Feedback came back positive, specifically calling out the mix of humor and practical value. More than a checkbox training moment, it became a small, memorable part of how the organization steadied itself during a genuinely disorienting transition.

What this project demonstrated:

  • Designing for a diverse audience without diluting the message for any of them
  • Using humor deliberately, as a retention tool, not just decoration
  • Curating research into a small set of high-impact takeaways
  • Video editing and multimedia production in Wondershare Filmora
  • Adapting quickly to a business need that didn’t come with a playbook
